About

Jeremy Swanson

Jeremy Swanson’s story is a familiar tale to most farmers. He grew up in a tractor cab. He showed pigs in 4H through school. And today, he continues to work and manage the family farm.

Jeremy earned a degree in agricultural systems technology from Iowa State University. After college, he spent a couple of years working at a local bank as a credit analyst. From there he went to work as a hired hand for a fellow farmer and seed dealer, working in the crop, livestock, and seed divisions of the business.

After eight years, Jeremy transitioned to a large regional co-op, where he became the precision ag manager. As Jeremy says, that’s where he really “went off the deep end into soils” and began to look at soil health as more than the sum of N, P, and K levels. Following six years at the co-op, Jeremy joined a small agronomy business, where he worked directly with farmers on their agronomy plans. During this time, he continued to learn about plant physiology, soil health, and the use of biologicals.

Today, Jeremy is focused on his family, running the family farm, and his own agronomy consulting business, Kalos Ag. Jeremy grows sweet corn and peas for Birds Eye Foods in addition to the midwest staples of corn and soybeans. He currently employs both strip till and no till techniques on his farm.
